Getting what you're paying for2
I've owned the Boss Audio BV9960 since April 2007. The first unit that was installed would not play AVI files or MP3 files. It did play normal DVD's and audio CD's. It was replaced with one that played AVI files and MP3 files. However, unlike a working unit, it does not navigate the file structure of the MP3 CD's. So, in order to play MP3's, I had to use no folders on the disc. If you have burnt DVD's, don't be suprised when you get half way through them and they start locking up or skipping. Same things happen, on occasion, with Divx/AVI discs.

Other problems this unit has... Nearly every day when I turn my car on, the front display is incorrect. If I have the stereo tuned to say 94.3, the display says something like 99.1. Every few days the display will be blank. On random occasions I've seen it reference non existing stations like 77.8 or even TV stations (this is with the TV disabled and no tuner installed). Usually when one of these events happens, should you open the screen, the display is messed up, distorted, and the buttons don't match up to the background.

One more thing I didn't like about the unit is that you can't have the clock as the default on the front display. If you can find your way through their brutal menus to find the clock set, it can be accessed by holding down the display button for a few seconds.

Moral of the story is you get what you pay for. Yes, it looks like a good deal. And, IF IT WORKED as it should out of the box, it would be a great deal. However, more than likely you will have problems with this cheap unit. The authorized installer from Boss that installed this unit, after hearing about my problems and replacing it once on his dime, refuses to offer this unit anymore. He does offer their more expensive models and doesn't have many problems with other Boss units.
